Title: Martinus Author: Charlene (charlene.vickers@gmail.com) Series: DS9 Rating: PG Codes: G/B Part: 1/1 Summary: Bashir betrays Garak. Disclaimer: Star Trek may be divided into three parts, but they all belong to Paramount. Archive: Trekiverse.org, others please ask Note: A reply to Stephen's "Betrayal" challenge. Being that it's Canada Day as well, it's also a fond but inadequate tribute to the great Canadian comedians Wayne and Shuster and their Julius Caesar sketch "Rinse the Blood Off My Toga". More info on this sketch can be found at: http://www.canadianshakespeares.ca/multimedia/video/rinse_the_blood.cfm ***** Garak looked down into his kanaar. "I told him. 'Julian don't go. Julian don't go.'" Quark wiped a glass. "But did he listen to you?" "No." He sighed as Quark refilled his drink and thought sadly of what he had seen that morning. Despite his entreaties the Doctor had chosen to go on a sightseeing tour of the third moon of Bajor. "Oh, come on, Elim, it's perfectly innocent," he had said. "I want to see the ruins of the Harappan temple, that's all. Just because you're not interested doesn't mean I should sit moping around the station." Oh no, Garak thought, I wouldn't want you to mope. But I did want to see what you were doing. So when I caught you looking around to see if I was following you -- and what a comedy that was, my dear, you thinking you could catch me in the act -- well, I knew something was up. But Ensign Yarrow, Julian? Whatever made you choose that bland little cipher? Oh, yes: I saw you put your hand on her back -- her very lower back, whisper in her ear, kiss her neck. I saw you escort her to the runabout pad, the one next to the pad the tour bus was leaving from. Where did you take her, Julian? A cozy romantic hideaway? Perhaps the same cabin we visited last week? And what am I supposed to do about it? His kanaar suddenly tasted like ashes in his mouth. "Quark, give me something else. What's in style these days?" The Ferengi thought for a second. "Well, the hoo-mans have this ancient drink they keep ordering from Leeta. I think they call it a martinus." "You mean a martini," Garak replied. Quark shook his head as he started to mix the drink. "If you want a double, you just have to ask for it. And pay."
